A Button Is The Last Salesperson On The Page.
The reader is now standing in your doorway with one foot on the mat. Everything above the button did its job. The only question left is whether the button reads like the next natural step, or like a demand. That decision moves conversion rate more than colour, size, or placement combined.
Great CTA copy names the reward, not the effort. Weak CTAs describe the action the user takes for you. Strong CTAs describe the outcome the user takes for themselves. Every variant this tool produces is built around that single rule.
- Reward, Not Action. Say what they get, not what they do.
- First Person. "Get My Plan" outperforms "Get Your Plan".
- Specific Verbs. Book, Claim, Unlock, See. Never Submit or Learn More.
- Zero Friction Cues. Free, 2 Minutes, No Card, Cancel Anytime.
If your button copy could sit on any competitor\u2019s site unchanged, rewrite it.
Direct Command
The reader is fresh. State the reward in two to four words. Any more and it looks like a form field.
Value First
After proof and features, sell the walk away. Name the artefact, the audit, the report, the playbook.
Risk Reversal
The last button on the page is not a first impression. It is a hand extended to a reader still hesitating. Remove risk inside the button copy itself.
Buttons That Quietly Cost You Revenue
- Submit. The reader is not submitting. They are asking for something. Rename it after the reward.
- Learn More. Learning is not a reward. If they wanted to learn, they would still be reading.
- Sign Up. Nobody wakes up wanting another login. They want the outcome the login unlocks.
- Buy Now. Too soon on cold traffic. Warm them with a low friction CTA first.
- Same CTA Six Times. Repeat the reward, not the wording. Rotate frameworks down the page.
- Ship Three. Never test two. A tie tells you nothing.
- Wait For Volume. 200 clicks minimum before you name a winner.
- Kill Ties. If two variants are within 5 percent, both lose. Write two new ones.
- Lock The Winner. Then test hero copy against it, not the button again.
A CTA is only as strong as the promise stacked above it. Rewrite headlines first, buttons second.
